May

May

Winds sing their mellow song
New leaves splendor with fay
Apple blossoms deem it true-
There be no better day

Petals drift in the cool breeze
Light orchids tilt and pray
Along the dainty daisy wall
Birds find solace in play

The sun shines like no other
Flowers dance their array
But it is beauty I cannot see
For I am dead within my fray

Under blooming trees, leaves dander
Under these trees, I lay
The shade sustains this shadow
And hence my sorrows stay

Despite absence of clouds,
I find the blue sky gray
A path upon my spring walk
Has now led me astray

While the spring smiles on
I part the wintry way
For a love that had existed
Is now false to me in May
