Talk: The Flower Trilogy
All three pieces deal with an angelic belle who has decided to stay with a mortal, angering the gods. Each piece deals specifically with one of the three core negative emotions: malice (winterbite), sorrow (sorrowfeed), and wrath (sanguinity). In every piece, the god punishes the belle for disgracing their divine status, and each piece is told by the mortal. All metaphorical, by the way.
I challenge the common definition of flowers by alluding them to something evil and harmful. Whereas flowers often evoke images of beauty, delicacy, and perfume, these three flowers are odious and destructive.
This is also one of my earlier attempts at symbolism and sensational imagery!
